Summary
While the Titanic made her mark by offering the height of Edwardian elegance and glamour, what mattered most for hundreds of her passengers was the opportunity to travel to a whole new world for a chance at a better life – America! What was the food like for the hopeful immigrants who were traveling to New York City aboard the Titanic?
Even in steerage, the quality of accommodations and meals surpassed that of other Edwardian passenger steamships. On most ships, it was still necessary to pack food for the whole family to last the entire journey. Veronica Hinke, culinary historian and author of The Last Night on The Titanic: Unsinkable Drinking, Dining and Style, will talk about foods that were served in third class aboard the Titanic, and about how mealtimes differed between the classes.
Join us in 2022 for the Molly Brown House Museum’s A Deeper Dive! A Deeper Dive is our speaker series to accompany the Titanic exhibit, shown throughout the house from April-September. In this series hosted by museum staff and Titanic experts (and others!) we'll discuss the stories within the larger story of the Titanic disaster. Registration required to attend.
